ABSTRACT

Population aging is one of the most significant and impactful demographic megatrends of the 21st century, where increased longevity turns older individuals into contributors to both individual and collective development. Lifelong learning, facilitated by digital and networked environments, strengthens the central role of this determinant in promoting active and healthy aging, creating opportunities for participation, security, and the enhancement of biopsychosocial and digital capacities. This text presents the results of the socio-educational project “Living with Vital-age Workshops” (2nd edition), developed by the Local Learning Centers of Universidade Aberta, involving senior participants. The main goal was to evaluate the project’s impact on self-promotion of active aging, the stimulation of intellectual capacities, and the level of digital fluency. The study was supported by a systematic literature review, followed by a questionnaire survey administered to the participant group (n=21) during online sessions. The results showed satisfactory effects on the learning process, self-promotion of active aging, stimulation of intellectual capacities, and positive outcomes in the development of digital skills.
